Class Etiquette
I want you to get the most out of your experience while you are attending classes here, so
I ask you to please follow a handful of good, wise and gracious Yogi and Yogini
guidelines.
1. Cell phones and pagers often are a great convenience, but during yoga you deserve a break from yours. Please be kind to yourself and your classmates by turning yours off
or on Vibe.

2. Bare feet help connect you to the Earth. Please strengthen this bond by leaving your shoes and socks at the door.
3. Please Print your full name on the class registration list before class begins.
4. If you arrive late to class, please make yourself comfortable in the lobby until the chanting and the teacher’s opening remarks are finished. The teacher or assistant will help you find a place to practice after this portion of the class is complete.
5. If you need to leave class early, please let the teacher know before class. He will help you find a time to leave so that you do not have to worry about disturbing other students during shavasana (resting pose). Of course, we hope you don’t have to leave early, because shavasana and meditation usually take no more than 10 minutes and are a powerful part of the yoga class.
6. So that you have all the space you need for your poses,
please bring only your towel and water bottle to the mat. Please leave all valuables in your car. Any other belongs can remain in the cubbies by the front door.
7. Be generous with your space and move your mat to accommodate other students who need a place. Go ahead and shift your body when you are practicing an asana that interferes with a neighbor’s practice. Let the spirit of generosity flow.
8. To help find your yogic frame of mind, make the most of the time before class by stretching, meditating and enjoying silence. Loud conversations are fun, but will distract you and other students from this.
9. So that your stomach and intestines will enjoy the yoga class as much as you do, try to
avoid eating in the two hours before practice. And, if you chew gum, four out of five yogis recommend you spit it out before class. The fifth yogi recommends you don’t chew it at all. Namaste!
10. Don’t worry if you sweat profusely. That is what your towel is for! (And your fellow yogis will appreciate it if you mop up your puddles.)
11. Women, if you are menstruating, give yourself a break from the inverted asanas (upside down poses). Your teacher will help you find alternatives.
12. To honor the niyama Saucha (cleanliness), please make sure that you return all props to the storage space in a neat and tidy order when class is complete. If you have
rented a mat, please clean it with the
supplied disinfectant spray & your towel.
13. Please inform the teacher of any injuries to your body. Listen to your body, follow your breath as you move through the yoga practice and
always ask a teacher for assistance if you need to modify a pose.
14. I provide lots of hand-on adjustments during class to support your practice and allow it to blossom. Please inform
me if you do not want to be
physically adjusted, & you will be verbally
adjusted instead.
